Job summary

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Science Communications Manager for the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre and NIHR Leicester Clinical Research Facility. You will be responsible for the delivery of communications activity for early-phase and experimental research, which takes findings in the laboratory and brings them to the bedside, for the benefit of patients.

Main duties of the job

The Science Communications Manager is responsible for designing and delivering communications and engagement strategies for the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and NIHR Leicester Clinical Research Facility (CRF). This includes leading on communications to raise the profile of Leicester's early-phase and experimental research with a wide range of stakeholders. This involves planning and delivering both internal and external communications to ensure that patients, the public, media, industry and funders are well informed about our research and achievements.

The R&I communications team, of which the post holder will be part of, operates in a complex environment, working with several organisations and partners. Stakeholder management and media relations are key skills essential for this role.

The Communications Manager will report to the BRC Manager and be accountable to the Head of Communications for Research and Innovation (R&I) at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the Directors of the BRC and CRF, and will feed into overarching R&I channels from a BRC and CRF perspective.
